ABOUT US
Salaam,
My name is EL Mudad, which means “That which cannot be measured” in the Arabic language.
My family came to the United States from Cairo, Egypt. Egypt is one of the oldest countries in the world, and has an ancient history that goes back 5,000 years.
E-Minors is an engaging, forward-thinking and innovative platform with a vision: telling children about the beauty of diversity and educating them to grow into respectful, clever and well-rounded individuals!
More than 1,000 years ago, Egypt became a Muslim country. My family–two brothers, one sister, and my parents–all practice the religion of Islam. We came to Illinois three years ago, when my father got a job teaching history at the University. My mom stays at home and works online as a translator––we speak English and Arabic at home.
Egypt is a very large desert-like country in the northeastern part of Africa. The Nile River–the longest river in the world– is a gigantic river in the middle of the desert. There are nearly 90 million people in my country, making Egypt the most populous country in the Arab world, and the 3rd most populated country
in Africa. Would you like to see more of Cairo and Egypt?
When I came to America, I was very surprised that only a few
people knew anything at all about Africa. Many people think that Africa is one country, but it is not. Egypt is only one of 53 different countries in Africa. Africa is huge.
My parents and those around me have always taught me that Enlightenment is one of the most important things you can do to help people. That means if one’s cultureal ideas are not understood by another culture, I am there to explain why they are doing what they do. It’s pretty cool to be able to change a misunderstanding into something both cultures can embrace. I want you to be enlightened and keep following me and the E– Minors to learn how to use the superpower of Enlightenment.
